Western Province Rugby Development Program

All rugby development schools from the Western Province were presented rugby balls provided by SLRFU, at a simple ceremony held at the Isipathana College Auditorium on 7 July.

A total of 41 schools play, out of which 26 schools play in the all island under 20 tournaments.  C.W.W. Kannangara College currently plays in Div 1B, Piliyandala Central and Lalith Athulathmudali College was promoted to DIV 1C in 2013. Dharmapala College Pannipitiya is currently playing in DIV 1C. All schools take part in age group tournaments conducted by the Western Province Rugby Football Union and Sri Lanka Schools RFA. A total of 15 coaches have been assigned by Western Province Rugby Football Union to train the 41 schools starting from age group under 9 to Under 20.
