WNS Global Services jubilantly raised aloft the Standard Chartered Cup 2016 which was played off on 16 October at the Campbell Park Grounds. The WNS Team One battled WNS Team Two in a hard-fought final which saw the result determined by a penalty shootout.

The team will now travel to Anfield to witness a home game on Liverpool’s Premier League pitch. The opportunity is made possible by the main sponsor agreement between Standard Chartered and Liverpool Football Club. Standard Chartered and Liverpool FC have used their partnership to support a number of the bank’s award-winning sustainability and community investment programs, which has enabled the bank to connect with clients and staff around the world. KPMG were awarded the third place prize after an extremely commendable showing against Dialog Team Two. Clearly a very good time was had by all, and Standard Chartered was delighted to host its clients’ teams to a day of football and camaraderie.

Chief Executive Standard Chartered Jim McCabe, who gave away the awards, said: “We were glad to have so many of our clients nominate teams to participate in this event. Without them the success of this day would not have been possible. Congratulations to all the participating teams and especially to the winners. Standard Chartered has had the privilege of partnering long-standing relationships in Sri Lanka with many of the nation’s oldest businesses, and with events such as these we attempt to share a flavour of our global footprint and key sponsorships.”

Twenty-four teams from leading organisations, as well as Standard Chartered’s own staff, participated. Corporate teams that participated include MAS Intimates, KPMG, MAS Active, MAS Linea Aqua, WNS, Aitken Spence, Hemas, John Keells, Emirates Airlines, Hela Clothing, Shangri-La, Dialog, Accenture, and Courtaulds Trading Company.
