World’s top eight in tennis visit 10 Downing Street

The top eight tennis players in the world took time out on Thursday from their preparations ahead of the ATP World Tour Finals at London’s O2 Arena when they accepted an invitation from British Prime Minister and tennis enthusiast David Cameron to visit 10 Downing Street.

Cameron posed with Tomas Berdych, Roger Federer, David Ferrer, Robin Soderling, Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick and Novak Djokovic outside of the famous residence in the heart of the British capital.

“It’s fantastic that the ATP World Tour Finals tournament is back in London for the second year running,” said Mr Cameron. “It’s great for London and great for the country.

“I hope that seeing the world’s top players compete right on our doorstep, including Britain’s very own Andy Murray, will inspire our next generation of sporting heroes.”

British number one Murray opens his campaign to win the tournament on home soil when he faces Robin Soderling at 2pm on Sunday. The tournament concludes with the final on Sunday, November 28.

“It’s an incredible atmosphere, a huge arena and it’s one of the biggest competitions in tennis behind the Grand Slams, so I’m really looking forward to it,” said Murray.
