St. Joseph’s College will be once again hosting the eagerly awaited Josephian Sculling Regatta 2016 from 16-18 June at the Colombo Rowing Club, with Yamaha Marine products, represented by Associated Motorways Ltd. (AMW), partnering as the Official Outboard Motor Logistics Provider.

The Josephian Sculling Regatta 2016 has been among the most anticipated and premier sculling events in the national rowing calendar. With the recent acquisition of international standard rowing equipment by the organisers, as well as the increased participation, it is sure to be a thriller this year as well.

The sport of rowing has been growing steadily in Sri Lanka, attracting large and diverse crowds, as well as male and female participants from leading national and international schools, undergraduates from Sri Lanka’s main State universities, other competitive rowing clubs, as well as the armed forces.

With the participation of approximately 1,000 oarsmen and women at more than 250 race starts, the event will be held a few weeks prior to the Sri Lanka Schools Nationals Rowing Championships 2016, thereby giving participants the ideal opportunity to test and hone their skills in preparation for the Nationals.

The choice of Yamaha as the Logistics Partner for the Josephian Sculling Regatta 2016 should be considered most appropriate, as the brand has been cresting the waves in water sports throughout the world, having won a host of awards from the National Marine Manufacturers’ Association (NMMA) of the USA, including the ‘Innovation Award’ this year, as well as the ‘Water Craft of The Year’ award from NMMA.

“As Yamaha Waverunner is readily identified as the most successful brand in water sports throughout the world, we are proud to be associated with the Josephian Sculling Regatta 2016” said a spokesman for Associated Motorways Ltd., the authorised dealer for Yamaha Waverunner in Sri Lanka. Being associated with this event also gives Yamaha Waverunner the ideal prospect of positioning itself as the leading choice for pleasure boating and water sports among the high profile attendees.

Founded in 1949, AMW has consistently, over 65 years, grown to become the preeminent group in the industry. Now an Al Futtaim Group company, AMW offers world-class brands including Yamaha, Nissan, Suzuki and Piaggio, as well as associated products like Goodyear tyres and Castrol lubricants, and New Holland tractors.
