The Pin Fernando Grand Prix 2017 July edition got underway at the Royal Colombo Golf Club and at the halfway mark a youngster with great potential, M.U. Chanaka Perera, shot a two under par second round to grab the lead from Navinda Ranga and overnight joint leader Sisira Kumara.

The top two amateurs B.A. Sanjeewa and N. Amarapadma took wing to Karachi on Sunday to participate in the 56th Pakistan Amateur Golf Championship 2017. In the absence of the two leading players of the PFGP Ranking, there is a close tussle to win the July edition of the CAT Solar-powered Pin Fernando Grand Prix 2017.

Twenty-four players made the cut at 162 out of a total 50 entries. The first round’s best scores were two under par 69 returned by Ranga and Kumara, while the second round’s best card was returned by D.M.P.P. Bandara (68, 3 under par). Perera, the leader after two rounds, is on three under par total, one stroke ahead of Ranga.

The Pin Fernando Grand Prix, powered by CAT Solar, continues at the RCGC and promises to offer a close finish.
