Zahira College Group of 90 holds Sports Festival

Zahira College Colombo’s Group of 90 (G90) held its Sports Festival 2012 for the sixth consecutive year at the College grounds recently.

The intention of organising a festival of this nature is primarily to foster goodwill among the old boys and to generate funds for the development of the college infrastructure and students’ education and extracurricular activities.

A 6-a-side Cricket Tournament, 7-a-side Soccer Tournament, 7-a-side Rugby Tournament, 7-a-side exhibition Soccer match among old boys, Karate display by present boys, Art Competition for school children and fun and games for children were held.

The Chief Guest, former Sri Lankan National Cricketer and Sri Lankan National Hockey Player S.H. Uvaisul Karnain, Zahira College Principal Mohamed Jiffry, Zahira College Sports Council Deputy Chairman M.S.M. Mazeer, Board of Governors Secretary Rizvi Niyas, G90 President Riza Zarook, and Project Chairman N.M. Shiraz distributed prizes, medals and certificates to winners.
