Zahira College holds Colours Nite 2014

By Ruzaik Farook Zahira College Colombo organised its Colours Nite 2014 at the college’s Gaffoor Hall recently. The Chief Guest at the event was former Sri Lankan cricketer Champaka Ramanayake, who distributed several of the night’s awards. Gold Star award-winner Farhath Farook receiving his award   Zahira College Principal Triazvi Marikkar said the school’s administration, with the support of the Board of Governors, provided all the necessary facilities for the improvement of sports at the school. There were also entertaining performances from students of the Zahira College primary section. In addition, tokens of appreciation were presented to the masters-in-charge, captains and coaches of all sports. Most Outstanding Sportsman  A.H.M. Uzman receiving his award  from the chief guest   The highlight of the event however was the presentation of awards to students who excelled in athletics, cricket, football, hockey, karate, rugger, swimming, scouting and cadetting. Individual accolades for the Best Player, Most Outstanding Player, All-round Sportsman of the Year and Most Outstanding Sportsman of the Year were also distributed. The Most Outstanding Player of the Year 2013/2014, Imran Rafi, and Most Outstanding Sportsman of the Year 2013/2014, A.H.M. Uzman, received their awards from chief guest Champaka Ramanayake.  The Board of Governors Chairman Fowzul Hameed, Sports Council Chairman M.S. Mazeer, Secretary Muhshin Ariff, Board of Governors Sub-committee Sports Chairman Alavi Mukthar, Old Boys, Vice Principals, staff, parents and students were also present.
