Zahira College holds ‘Sports Festival 2011’

Zahira College Colombo Group of ’90s held its ‘Sports Festival 2011’ for the fifth consecutive year at the College grounds, Maradana, Colombo recently.

The intention of organising a festival of this nature is primarily to foster goodwill among the old boys and to generate funds for the development of the college infrastructure and students’ education and extra activities.

A six a side cricket tournament, seven a side football tournament , seven a side rugby tournament, seven a side exhibition football match, karate display by present students, art competition, magic show and fun games for school children were held.  The winning team of the cricket tournament Sundays Seven Team Captain received the award from Chief Guest Group of 80 Founder President M.S.M. Niyas, while the winning team of the rugby tournament Barbarian 2011 Team Captain received the award from Zahira College Group of 80 Past President M.U.M. Azmi and the winning team of the soccer tournament Colombo Ten Team Captain M.S. Lafir received the award from Main Sponsor Cool Planet CEO Nislan Nuhman. Project Chairman Shiham Zuhair and members of the Group of 90 were also present during the awards presentation.
