Zahira Rugby Sevens 2015 kicks off tomorrow

Farook Lantra The much awaited and one of the premier rugby tournaments recognised by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association will kick off on 18 January at the Zahira College Grounds, Maradana from 8.00 a.m. onwards. This glamorous event which has gained popularity among the rugby playing schools in Colombo and outstation is organised by the Group of sixties (G60) of Zahira College through it Sports Committee Chairman M.S. Mazeer for the seventh time. He will be assisted by G60 President Ifthikar Ahamed, Tournament Director Ibrahim Hamid, Coordinating Secretary M. Muhshideen Ariff and Technical/Discipline Chairman Shamlie Nawaz. 12 leading local schools from the island vie for the Zahira Rugby Sevens Friendship Challenge Cup. The Cup winners and runners up Plate and Bowl will receive trophies and lucrative cash awards. The event is co-sponsored by Allied Trading International Ltd and Faiz Brothers Ltd., while Chief Guest will be Mutthiah Muralidaran.
