Zimbabwe prevail in last-ball finish

Zimbabwe beat Netherlands yesterday in their First Round Group B match in the ICC T20 World Cup played at Sylhet in Bangladesh. Zimbabwe kept themselves in contention for the main draw of the World T20, despite making hard work of chasing 141 on a surface which, on Monday, BrendanTaylor had assessed as a 180-run pitch. They needed much less and were solid at the start, but almost left themselves with too much to do at the end. Netherlands batted first and scored 140 for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs. Tom Cooper top scored with 72 off 58 balls inclusive of 9 fours and one 6. In reply, Zimbabwe scored 146 for the loss of five wickets and scraped through with a last-ball finish. Brandon Taylor top scored with 49 off 39 balls whilst opener Hamilton Masakadza batted well with 43 off 45 balls. Chief Scores: Zimbabwe 146 for 5 (Taylor 49) beat Netherlands 140 for 5 (Cooper 72*) by five wickets.
