National Development Bank PLC was recognised as one of the 40 Best workplaces by the independent analysts at Great Place to Work in Sri Lanka at the recently held awards ceremony at Hilton, Colombo.
NDB Bank earned this credential based on extensive ratings provided by its employees in an anonymous survey and a culture audit conducted on HR practices which are matched against global qualification criteria required to be a Great Workplace. This recognition acknowledges the bank’s efforts in creating an environment which fosters respect, trust and fairness.
Expressing his views on the matter, NDB Bank Director/Group CEO Dimantha Seneviratne said, “Creating a people focused culture is important to the Bank. This recognition as the only local bank to be named a Great Place to Work is a reflection of the continued commitment to build a culture that is dynamic, purpose driven and truly inclusive. Our commitment is further renewed and enhanced with this recognition to invest in our people programs, to ensure NDB continues to be an employer of choice in Sri Lanka.”
“We applaud NDB Bank for seeking employees’ feedback and the opportunity to recognise itself through this exclusive title,” said Great Place to Work in Sri Lanka CEO Kshanika Ratnayake. “These ratings measure its capacity to earn its own employees’ trust and create a great workplace that is driven by meaningful values, effective leaders and the intent to maximise human potential – critical metrics that anyone considering working for or doing business with NDB Bank should take into account as an indicator of a high-performance culture.”
During the survey conducted, NDB employees shared their views. “The culture makes it a unique place to work. Unlike other organisations, I feel this place has a lot of team-playing and we have built up this uncommon way of doing things in order to grow (organisational wise and individual wise)”and “Respect for each other irrespective of age, race, ethnicity, religion or seniority.”
According to Great Place to Work, “A great workplace is one in which employees no matter who they are and what they do for the organisation are having a consistently positive experience of trusting their leaders, enjoying the people they work with, and having pride in what they do.”
NDB Bank which was crowned as ‘Sri Lanka’s Best Bank 2021’ by the prestigious Global Finance Magazine of USA, and recognised as ‘The Bank of the Year Sri Lanka’, by The Banker Magazine UK, is the 4th largest listed bank in Sri Lanka and the parent company of the NDB Group.
