Planetary Carbon Standard awarding BNI Sri Lanka with the Carbon Neutral Certification

BNI Sri Lanka has achieved a significant milestone by clinching the Carbon Neutral Certification for their recently concluded BNI Conference held in June this year. This prestigious certification, awarded by Planetary Carbon Standard, marks the event as the first-ever carbon-neutral BNI event to be held to date.

The certification process involved a comprehensive assessment of the event’s carbon footprint, followed by the implementation of strategies to offset emissions through various sustainable initiatives. The successful execution of these measures has set a new benchmark for environmentally conscious business events in Sri Lanka.

“This achievement underscores our commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. By making the BNI Conference carbon neutral, we have not only set an example for our members but also for the wider business community in Sri Lanka. We are proud to have paved the way for future events to be conducted with a focus on minimising environmental impact,” stated BNI Sri Lanka Area Director Glenn Lord.

“We are delighted to award BNI Sri Lanka with the Carbon Neutral Certification for their pioneering efforts in hosting the first-ever carbon-neutral BNI event. This certification reflects their dedication to reducing their environmental footprint and promoting sustainability. We hope this will inspire other organisations to follow suit in making their events more sustainable,” said Planetary Carbon Standard Founder Imran Ali.

Spokespersons from the key sponsors of the event – Blackford, Sri Lanka Telecom, and Rage Coffee – added that supporting this pioneering carbon-neutral event was a reflection of their own commitment to sustainability and innovation and in setting a new benchmark for environmentally conscious business practices on what can be achieved when businesses come together with a shared vision for a greener future.

With over 400 participants and Ron Kauffman as the keynote speaker, the event had an impressive 1,050 referrals generated, demonstrating the power of collaboration and networking and setting a new standard for sustainability in business events.

In setting this standard, BNI Sri Lanka has taken a proactive stance in the global movement towards sustainability. This achievement is not just a milestone for BNI Sri Lanka, but a call to action for the broader business community to prioritise sustainability in their operations and events, ensuring a positive impact on the environment for future generations.
