Family-owned Jetwing Group this week declared that the year 2019 saw resilient human spirit rise above the inhumanity as the tourism industry and the country at large united to overcome the tragic Easter Sunday attacks.

“During the year, we saw the resilient human spirit rise above the inhumanity,” said Jetwing Hotels and Jetwing Travels Chairman Shiromal Cooray in a special year-end message.

“We saw it in the people rebuilding their lives, the numerous others who helped those in need, our steadfast associates who, despite the circumstances, continued to provide the best of Sri Lankan hospitality and most importantly we saw it in our cherished guests who have stood by Jetwing and Sri Lanka in trying circumstances and gave us the strength and courage to return even stronger,” she added.

“It was the fortitude, perseverance and solidarity shown among those in the hospitality industry that has allowed Sri Lanka to push through adversity and recover from the April attacks. As we move on to 2020, we only hope to serve our guests better, and see our country prosper,” said Jetwing Symphony PLC Chairman Hiran Cooray.

As Group approach the turn of the decade, Jetwing via a special message opted to reflect on the past year, the challenges it brought, and the opportunities it presented.

“Although the Easter attacks left an indelible mark on our community, country and the industry, it gave rise to deeper bonds and it has become a catalyst for a united nation,” Jetwing said.

It extended heartfelt gratitude to loyal customers and dedicated associates without whom Jetwing said its successes over the course of the year would not have been possible. In these trying times it was heartening to have private organisations set aside their differences and come together to help rebuild trust in the Sri Lankan hospitality industry, Jetwing added.

The company said there is still plenty to be achieved by the industry and the country and next year Jetwing has lined up with many successes and great triumphs.

“Jetwing looks forward to the New Year with hope and confidence in the resilience of the nation,” the company added.
