BALI, Indonesia: In the presence of Skal International President, Karine Coulanges, the Asia Area Congress was formerly opened yesterday in front of delegates from 18 countries, representing the enormous diversity of members of a region that stretches from Mauritius to Guam – a region that comprises the Indian Ocean, the Middle East, and the three divisions of West, East and SE Asia.
Karine Coulanges, World President for Skal International, said: “It is my great pleasure to be in Bali and join the Asian Area congress. I have met with the board, and we had a very positive exchange of ideas on how we can take our great organisation into the future – a future where the Asia Pacific region will be more and more a driving force and a cornerstone of Skal.”
Joining World President Karine was Nigel Pilkington (NZ), SI Director PR & Communications & Special Projects Asia.
Also in attendance were National Presidents Amarjit Lidder (India) and Denise Scrafton (Australia).
The three-day congress is taking place at the magnificent Nusa Dua Beach Resort & Spa, Bali. With 190 members, the Bali club is one of the association’s largest and most active clubs. Club President Bruce W. Jellard, Club Secretary/Treasury Malcolm Scott, and IPP Urs Klee were on hand to welcome all delegates.
Skal’s Asian Area comprises over 2,000 members. Skal International (SI) is the world’s largest association of travel and tourism professionals with 17,000 members globally in 85 countries and this year celebrates its 80th anniversary.
