Shinagawa Beach, the newest hospitality venture to grace the coastal landscape of the south is a 26-room upscale property and is a joint venture of Asia Leisure together with Teoria Investment Co. Ltd. of Japan. With an investment outlay of $ 6 million, this resort is built on a slice of prime real estate in Balapitiya. Shinagawa Beach will live up to its promise of offering vacationers a luxury holiday resort, whilst also furthering Asia Leisure’s footprint on the south coast. Asia Leisure Director Reyhan Morris said: “The company’s decision to advance interests within this region is a result of the success of our existing properties, The River House and Tamarind Hill”. Stemming from the groups focus on small to mid-sized properties offering unique product and service concepts, Shinagawa Beach pledges to go well beyond just a breezy, sunny stay-over by the ocean. Morris added: “Today’s upmarket travellers are deeply percipient. Rooms with luxurious features matched with quality food and service, are only a desired expectation. Upscale properties need to appeal to dream expectations.” With a clear understanding of the international consumer segment the resort will target, Shinagawa has designed distinct concepts for every single guest touch point. Embedded in each of these concepts are elements that exude coastal charm inspired by the islands lure. The selected Japanese investment company mirrors Asia Leisure’s own commitment. Teoria Investment Co. Ltd. President and CEO Shigenori Shinagawa: “The vision of our entering the Sri Lankan market is to continue to uphold the great ties between these two islands.” An enthusiast of the two country’s ever increasing relationship, Shinagawa is confident of his move into the hospitality industry. If not green pastures, sun kissed beaches have drawn him here. The product itself offers sweeping ocean views from each of its 26 luxury rooms. The welcome area opens out to a chic pool with a restaurant and bar on either side whilst the resort also includes a spa. Fresh, contemporary expressions shape each of these facilities and are crafted in a manner that blends with the pristine beach you’ll share only with other guests of the hotel. Shinagawa Beach opens in December 2013 with the promise of yet another select offering by Asia Leisure on the south coast. Asia Leisure is a fully owned subsidiary of Asia Capital PLC.
