Amaya Resorts and Spas has opened its latest offering, the Villas Wadduwa, comprising 32 units making it a perfect beach getaway.
The Villas Wadduwa is a holiday resort based on the traditional concept of a ‘walawwa,’ a perfect juxtaposition of classical Sri Lankan architecture and the modern luxury bungalows and villas concept of Amaya Resorts & Spas.
“Wadduwa is not a well-known area for hospitality in the country; our goal was to introduce a unique theme by the beach which will help popularise this area and make it equally appealing to foreigers as well as Sri Lankans,” said Group Operations General Manager Dayal Fernando.
He added that the early morning view of fishermen fishing with the ‘madhela’ (fishing net) is something that tourists were extremely fascinated by and that it made them feel the true culture of Sri Lanka.
Operating since 2017 the Villas Wadduwa is a colonial manor house with a ‘meda midula,’ an interior open space or garden in the middle of the house, this was one of the key features of traditional ‘Walauwas’.
He said resting on the shores of the southern coast Villas Wadduwa was a perfect summer beach getaway complete with a private plunge pool in each luxury room, a spa, a gym, and everyone’s favourite – the golden sandy beach.
“A distinguishing feature of this hotel relative to its counterparts is that it is designed in a way that every room has an ocean view and a view of every part of the hotel such as the garden, the pond and the poolside,” said Fernando.
He also mentioned that all the villas were designed like an individual house which ensured complete privacy to its guests and that all guests would have the privilege of getting all hotel services to their doorstep.
The external décor stays true to the theme of the location with light shades and hints of baby blue blending perfectly with its surrounding nature. The off-white and antique touch in the wooden flooring, furniture and bed posts resemble the soft sandy white beaches.
Each room comes with all the modern comforts and amenities. You can unwind in the comfort of your terrace listening to the waves crashing ashore or clink on your drink while watching the sun go behind the ocean horizon.
The 32 individual Villas are made up of 10 duplexes, 17 premium rooms and five luxury rooms. All rooms have an identical interior design with the private Jacuzzi being the distinguishing feature of luxury rooms.
Each Duplex can withhold up to five guests which makes them ideal for families and also large groups since all duplexes are connected to each other by an overhead bridge. The Villas has two restaurants which includes an all-day dining restaurant and a fine dining restaurant. Both inclusive of the finest of international cuisine and delectable Sri Lankan cuisine.
Located 35km south of Colombo City and 68km from the Bandaranaike International Airport. The Villas is a perfect holiday resort whether you’re a foreigner in search of lesser known Sri Lankan adventure or a local looking to get away from the chaos of the big city.
