In affirmation of the measures taken to ensure the safety of their guests, Amaya Resorts and Spas and The Kingsbury Colombo received the ‘Safe and Secure Tourism’ compliance certificate recently.

Accordingly, all properties under the Hayley’s Leisure sector including five properties under Amaya Resorts and Spas namely Amaya Lake Dambulla, Amaya Hills Kandy, Amaya Beach Passikudah, Langdale by Amaya Nuwara Eliya and The Oliphant Bungalow Nuwara Eliya as well as The Kingsbury Colombo were thus certified by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) following a stringent audit conducted by KPMG Sri Lanka.

The comprehensive safe and secure certification audit covered over 100 critical points covering all COVID-19 related safety aspects and was commissioned as per the guidelines stipulated by the SLTDA and the Ministry of Health.

This sought-after certification seeks to build trust among valued guests and stakeholders and would undoubtedly go a long way in making Sri Lanka’s sun-kissed beaches, serene lakes, verdant forests and misty cool hills among other blessings, accessible without fear once international tourism takes wing.

Commenting on the process Hayley’s Leisure sector Managing Director Rohan Karr had this to say: “We want to ensure that our guests remain safe and secure while indulging in their dream holidays. We would like to take this opportunity to thank SLTDA for initiating this certification process, in keeping with the new norm of the hospitality/travel industry. Amaya Resorts and Spas and The Kingsbury Colombo is firmly committed to supporting the Government of Sri Lanka in its efforts to rebuild confidence among international travellers and to promote Sri Lanka as a safe destination.”

Sri Lanka received the Safe Travels Stamp from The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) in August this year. The Safe Travels Stamp, which is backed by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as well, enables travellers to recognise destinations around the world which have adopted globally standardised health and safety protocols.

Our property in the city ‘The Kingsbury Colombo’ boasts 229 luxurious rooms and offers a host of gastronomical experiences across our renowned restaurants within the hotel.

Furthermore, the Amaya Resorts and Spas chain consists of high-end boutique hotels and bungalows that offer discerning travellers the holiday of their dreams across strategic locations in Sri Lanka with 325 resort rooms, 37 high-end boutique rooms and 15 homely bungalow rooms. This allows guests the opportunity to experience the diversity of our island from the sea, to lush greens, to the historical architecture and the renowned tea plantations. Amaya Resorts and Spas has an Ayurveda Retreat as well, consisting of 13 eco-friendly villas offering a variety of ancient Sri Lankan Ayurveda treatments.
