Sri Lanka is one of the most preferred and favourite destinations for Russian tourists, said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Sri Lanka Levan S. Dzhagaryan.
The Ambassador indicated an estimated 200,000 Russian tourists are to visit Sri Lanka in 2024 and air connectivity too would be further strengthened.
He said this to Chamber of Tourism and Industries Sri Lanka (CTISL) President A.U.M. Jaufar when he paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Levan S. Dzhagaryan.
CTISL Representative Middle East and Europe Dr. M. Inamullah and National Organiser Donald Rajapsksha also participated.
Deputy Head of the Mission Alexander Dyagilev and Second Secretary Galina Kuklina also took part in this discussion which also focused on promoting Sri Lankan Tourism to the Russian market for 2024.
“Attracting foreign direct investments to the hospitality industry was also discussed,” said CTISL President A.U.M. Jaufar.
In responding to these proposals made by CTISL, Deputy Head of the Mission Alexander Dyagilev assured that the Embassy would extend whatever assistance under the purview of the mission to coordinate with the relevant Federal Russian authorities.
