The iconic Angel Beach Unawatuna has got a boost via exposure in the popular and influential National Geographic Traveller (UK) ‘Experiences Collection’ issue of December 2024.
Angel Beach Unawatuna is a luxury boutique hotel and day club and part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. The hotel has 11 indulgent rooms, all of which have balconies, courtyards or ocean views.
The hotel is conveniently located on the pristine beach of Dalwella, a stone’s throw from the popular beachside tourist destination, Unawatuna, and part of the Galle District in the Southern Coast of Sri Lanka.
Offering another take on a wellness getaway, travellers are encouraged to kick back and relax at the funky, Instagrammable bar, sip on exotic mixologist-designed cocktails on the semi-private beach or indulge in authentic Italian coffee made by master baristas on a state-of-the-art coffee machine. The hotel also serves a range of cuisines – there is an expansive breakfast and a la carte menu that features local delicacies, amazing beach burgers, a wide variety of vegan and plant-based options and wood fired pizza.
Angel Beach Unawatuna is a one-stop destination that offers plenty of options to keep you busy for the duration of your stay. From large daybeds and sunbeds by the swimming pool with its swim-up bar or on the beach. Angel Beach has a variety of spots where you can perfect your island glow.
A family-friendly location with activities such as Sunday Kids’ Club and live weekend music entertainment, co-working facilities and meeting rooms with a view, delicious cocktails and poolside sunset beats by local and international DJs. Angel Beach has something for everyone. Not only does the property cater for families and business travellers, the sunny beach and views of the Indian Ocean make it the perfect place to tie the knot.
For those who wish to venture out of the resort, take a short morning stroll down the tropical beach towards the famous coconut tree swing, a snorkel in the naturally formed coral reef lagoon or an evening bicycle ride through the lush rice paddies located just inland from the hotel.
Angel Beach is only a short tuk-tuk ride from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Galle Fort and a short drive from sites where you can see whales offshore. It is also ideally located for visiting Sri Lanka’s national parks and rainforests.
