Avani Bentota Resort receives ISO 22000:2018 certification by SGS

Avani Bentota Resort recently received ISO 22000:2018 certification from SGS for the preparation and serving of food and beverage. This internationally recognised certification covers all the processes in the food chain that impact the safety of the end product. 

The standard stipulates the requirements for a comprehensive food safety management system, as well as incorporating the elements of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).

Guests can experience international cuisine at Breeze – the all-day dining restaurant, poolside sundowners at Chatters or the Loft Bar, while enjoying the private beachfront and in-room dining which add to the overall culinary experience – all in compliance with internationally recognised standards. 

The Hotel’s General Manager Channa Ekanayake commented on the certification: “Reaching this milestone within six months of the re-opening was momentous in demonstrating our commitment to food safety and quality of service here at Avani Bentota Resort. I believe this will offer a peace of mind to post-pandemic holidaymakers as well.”

Upon the acquisition of Serendib Leisure Management by Browns Hotels & Resorts, a subsidiary of LOLC Group in 2020, the property underwent a comprehensive renovation prior to being reopened to the public in February of this year.
