The premier luxury destination resort – Cinnamon Bentota Beach – has reopened to discerning travellers from 1 November after timely enhancements, to offer guests an unforgettable multisensorial experience.

Acknowledged as one of the most iconic properties in Sri Lanka for its iconic location and prized architecture and art by Sri Lanka’s best-known architects and artists, Cinnamon Bentota Beach is the perfect getaway for a divine tropical holiday.

The property is truly a feast for the senses, starting from the stunning expanse of the aesthetically designed resort, fringed by the Indian ocean, to the striking rich batik ceiling envisioned and brought to life by Ena de Silva, to the eclectic pieces of art peppering the property, the resort embodies the tropical beauty, art and culture of the island – a true microcosm of beautiful Sri Lanka.

Nestled along the southern coast of Sri Lanka, the elegant resort boasts a heritage dating back to the ’60s, designed by Asia’s most influential architect of the time – Geoffrey Bawa. Located between the Bentara River and Bentota Beach, the resort offers the pleasures of the ocean and the meandering river on either side, an unparalleled location. Travellers looking to put the stress and strain of the pandemic behind them are able to revel in the array of stylish and contemporary spaces to enjoy inspired island living as the resort is now open for reservations.

Commenting on the reopening, Cinnamon Bentota Beach General Manager Dilan Bandara stated, “It is an absolute pleasure to welcome our guests to Cinnamon Bentota Beach with the easing of travel restrictions and international tourism opening up. Our signature hospitality experience will be refreshing and exciting after the long hiatus in travel for so many people around the world who are itching to travel. As the prime beach resort along the Golden Mile of beaches on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, famously known as the Gold Coast, Cinnamon Bentota Beach offers many compelling reasons to enjoy a holiday under the tropical sun. All resort operations are being conducted under strict compliance with health standards laid down by the Government, as well as meeting our own stringent standards for hygiene and safety as part of the brand’s own standard for cleanliness known as Cinnamon Care. The protection of our guests, staff and greater community are at the heart of all that we do, and we look forward to ensuring a fulfilling and satisfying stay for our guests.”

From delivering a personalised check-in and check-out service to offering a truly authentic and tailor-made stay, Cinnamon Bentota Beach offers a variety of exclusive guest services, along with concierge service, in-room or location dining, pillow menu, babysitting service, laundry services, spa, conference hall, in-house artisan village and a gymnasium.

Most importantly, guests are pampered with signature Cinnamon hospitality – fulfilling guest requests to ensure they have a fulfilling holiday and return home rejuvenated. The property is also ideal for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) events and landmark personal occasions, such as weddings held at the ballroom terrace adjoining the main ballroom or even on the beach.

The resort offers 16 Suites with unique sets of artworks that were commissioned from Sri Lankan artists as part of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts’ pledge to support the local arts and crafts. Eight artists were commissioned to depict a theme and record what they felt the name of the suite meant to them – resulting in each suite telling a story of the local people and local languages. Cinnamon Bentota Beach was originally designed by Geoffrey Bawa and his Engineer Dr. K. Poologasundaram, and later refurbished by Architect Channa Daswatta.

Experiences at this property abound with fun activities for children including water sports, curated excursions and specialised destination dining, authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. Guests are spoiled for choice with six specialised restaurants, the highlight being, Nossa, an all-day dining restaurant which depicts a hawker street, with different types of cuisine. Additionally, the seafood restaurant, Sea-Meats-Spice, and Asian restaurant, Zest, specialising in Sri Lankan, Indian and Chinese cuisines, pay homage to dishes from this part of the world.

Meanwhile, Ottimo serves a variety of pizzas and pasta together with juicy premium cuts of steak and also features a choice of Italian wines among many other unique culinary offerings. Traditional experiences are introduced at an in-house Artisan Village offering an array of activities such as mask carving, puppetry, coconut leaf art, drumming and Beeralu lessons; all traditional handicrafts that are found in this region.

Cinnamon Bentota Beach is a multitude of captivating recreational elements – and welcomes local and international travellers who are seeking a safe and secure holiday complete with rich heritage, diverse food and beverage options, personalised experiences and privacy for a luxurious escape on the southern coast of Sri Lanka.
