Classic Travel, the only travel agent in Sri Lanka to be open 24 hours and 365 days, recently obtained the ‘ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management System’ certification to ensure uninterrupted services to its traveling customers.
The ISO 22301 system is designed to help organisations around the world identify and prioritise threats, and to protect them from the impacts of business disruptions. Effective protection is achieved by following established methodologies such as the Business Continuity concepts, Good Practice Guidelines and/or international standards, which provide a predetermined level of operation during a crisis.
Classic Travel Ltd. CEO Shiham Imamudeen explained the reasons that led to Classic Travel applying for the new certification. “We are living in challenging times and natural disasters such as industrial fires, supply chain disruptions or cyber-attacks are just some of the many unexpected threats to the smooth running of a business. In order to recover from such events, an organisation requires a comprehensive strategy that can tackle a multitude of business continuity risks. These, along with Classic Travel’s increasing utilisation of technology, are the reasons that led us to apply for the ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management System’ certification.”
With ISO 22301, the staff of Classic Travel will understand how a Business Continuity Management System helps meet business objectives and identify potential risks in advance to maintain the minimum acceptable operations during a certain period. This will in turn help strengthen the reputation for reliability and superior service built by Classic Travel among Sri Lankan customers for over 28 years, while enhancing its image internationally.
Imamudeen elaborated on the benefits that Classic Travel will enjoy due to the new certification.
“This system ensures that operations continue even if something unexpected occurs and provides the assurance of continued services to our customers and stakeholders. Furthermore, the ISO 22301 framework will serve as evidence that Classic Travel has taken the necessary steps to comply with certain regulatory requirements. Ultimately, as a customer-centric company, our ability to recover quickly from unexpected interruptions will ensure travellers have peace of mind when engaging with Classic Travel,” he added.
Praguna Management Ltd. provided the consultative guidance to Classic Travel to obtain the certification while the company was certified for it by DNV Business Assurance Lanka Ltd.
