The hotel is also an ideal setting for weddings. All guest rooms are equipped with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, an electric tea pot, a bidet, a hairdryer and a desk, while every room comes with a private bathroom and a closet. The hotel is owned by a general manager of a leading soft toy exporter to Germany and nature photographer Neil Fernando, who reported that they had invested around Rs. 80 million in it and would add a further Rs. 10 million to introduce solar heating and lighting and a bio gas plant, powered by hotel waste, which would be used for cooking.
Fernando stated that since this is the only hotel in the area, they have taken great care with regard to environmental protection when building and maintaining the hotel, and also toward community development. “We have trained and recruited young workers who were involved in the construction of the hotel from the area. Most of the vegetables and sea fish are purchased at a higher price from the nearby community, opening a new market for them.”
He added that special card promotions would be launched next week as they expect over 40% of guests to be Sri Lankans.
