The Colombo City Restaurant Collective (CCRC) yesterday introduced a number of health and safety measures to be followed by all members as per Government and World Health Organization (WHO) directives in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Following a discussion between the CCRC Executive Committee, it was decided that members would be requested to adhere to a number of safety protocols, including following hand washing practices rigorously, using gloves, masks, and sanitisers, and frequently disinfecting commonly touched surfaces in all areas of the restaurant.
In addition to this, all restaurants will be required to maintain the highest levels of hygiene and food handling procedures and associates who do not feel well will be asked to self-quarantine.
The CCRC is registered with the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) and the measures will be implemented by all members that offer dine-in, delivery, and takeaway services at their respective restaurants.
A statement issued by the Collective stated they remained vigilant in learning more about COVID-19 by monitoring developments closely.
“It’s doubly important that it manages the situation well in order to overcome this unprecedented crisis effectively which has gravely affected the food and beverage industry,” the statement read, adding that the CCRC is working with relevant Government authorities, like the Tourism Ministry, SLTDA, Excise Department of Sri Lanka, and Public Health Inspectors (PHIs), that have an impact on the industry.
“As the CCRC is the apex body representing the food and beverage industry, its members have been requested to continue their service and commitment to doing what’s right to protect our customers and associates and maintaining the highest levels of hygiene and safety,” the statement added.
