Representatives of the world’s third largest tour operator FTI Touristik based in Europe assured to send large groups of high end European tourists to Sri Lanka from January 2024 said HOT Tourism Business Development Director and former FTITouristik Group Regional Head, Paul Hiemo. Speaking on behalf of the FTI he made this announcement to representatives of leading local hotels that attended the delegation’s final day fellowship held at the 7Degree Restaurant in Colombo.
“FTI plans to actively engage in promoting Sri Lanka in Europe for high end tourists as the local industry is now preparing to cater to upmarket tourists” Hiemo said.
The FTI travel agents group that arrived in Sri Lanka on 9 December left the country after conducting a successful familiarisation tour in Sri Lanka.
These travel agents visited the country for the first time, hosted by the House of Travels Ltd. (HOT) and were mesmerised by the culture, scenic beauty, food and beverages and the people of Sri Lanka. All the tour operators expressed their enthusiasm and willingness to promote Sri Lanka to high end tourist groups in Europe.
The group covered strategic locations in the country visiting Dambulla, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, Bentota and Colombo. Their accommodations were sponsored by leading hotels in the area while HOT Travels hosted all other arrangements.
The group before their departure attended a hospitality industry mini Travel Mart where industry representatives promoted their properties to FTI travel agents followed by a fellowship.
The FTI group is a travel arrangement agency that supports the identification of travel trends and hotels and offers holidays in over 120 countries, supporting self-drive holidays, beach holidays, individual tours, long-haul tours, package, and modular services.
