Fox Resorts becomes the second hotel chain to receive SLSI 1672:2020 certification for COVID safety measures.
This is currently the only COVID-19 safety certification available for Sri Lankan hotels hosting local
guests. Visitors at the Fox properties can now explore some of the island’s best kept secrets without worry.
The resort chain received their official certification in December last year, after multiple audits and stringent guidelines were set in place, covering both their resort properties in Jaffna and Kandy, as well as the head office in Colombo.
The SLSI 1672:2020 certification for essential preparatory and prevention measures is the sole COVID safety protocol in place for hotels hosting local guests. It covers everything from hygiene practices to recommendations for handling suspected and confirmed cases of COVID-19 to protocols for isolation and quarantining if required. Fox Resorts is the second hotel to receive this certification in Sri Lanka, and Fox Kandy and Jaffna are the only hotels in their respective areas to have done so.
“We made the decision to implement the necessary sanitisation efforts and other precautions back in February 2020, because we take the safety of our guests and our employees extremely seriously. Over the last year, these protocols have become a routine part of our hotel’s practices. We want our guests to be able to come on holiday with peace of mind, so getting the official certification was the obvious next step,” said Fox Resorts Chief Executive Officer Chris Quyn.
As a boutique resort property, space, distance and hygiene has always been a key element of the Fox experience and since the pandemic began a year ago, the company has upped their practices to ensure a safe and comfortable stay for all guests.
Under the updated protocols, all common area surfaces are cleaned at greater frequency with recommended and proven sanitising cleaning agents; guest rooms are completely disinfected after each occupant and food supplies are sourced from local vendors to minimise exposure. In addition, all produce that comes to the premises are sanitised with food safe agents twice – first upon collection from the vendor and then again, after being brought into the kitchens.
“We’ve strived to meet not just the local regulations set out by the Ministry of Health and Sri Lanka Tourism, but also international standards according to WHO to ensure our properties are completely safe,” stated Fox Jaffna General Manager Glenville Palliyeguru.
Set amidst vast green acres, both Fox Jaffna and Fox Kandy are perfectly suited for social distancing. The rooms at each property have been painstakingly put together, combining old world charm with contemporary decor that pay homage to Sri Lankan art and craft. With an emphasis on exemplary service, Fox promises to make every stay memorable through authentic local experiences and gastronomic delights.
“Travel offers you the chance to take a break from the stress and anxiety that the pandemic has brought about. Since international travel options are limited at present, this is a wonderful opportunity to explore our very own beautiful island. With that in mind, we’ve put together a selection of curated travel packages while keeping caution and safety in mind,” said Fox Kandy General Manager Brian Reginalld.
Nestled among the Hanthana mountains, Fox Kandy is a boutique resort that offers modern conveniences in the most breath-taking setting. It is the perfect spot for relaxing and rejuvenating, with jaw-dropping vistas around every corner, exceptional gourmet meals at the best fine dining restaurant in the city, an inviting infinity pool, and rooms equipped with modern luxuries and conveniences. The resort also offers trekking options to the neighbouring mountains – a chance to escape and unwind, and be one with nature.
Just a short drive outside of Jaffna town is Fox Jaffna. An ancestral home turned boutique hotel; the property is a lush green oasis secluded from the vibrant Jaffna town. Guests will find it to be the ideal location to explore the northern peninsula or a superb spot to take a relaxing break.
You can take a dip in the emerald hued pool, indulge in a fiery traditional meal unique to the region whipped up by one of the hotel chefs, learn more about the region’s history at Fox’s war bunker turned museum or visit the in-house art gallery featuring some of the seminal works from Sri Lanka’s elite “43 Group”.
