The Galle Fort or the Dutch Fort is a fortification first built by the Portuguese on the south-western coast of Sri Lanka. According to a statement by UNESCO the site was recognised as a World Heritage Site for its unique exposition of an urban ensemble which illustrates the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions from the 16th to the 19th centuries which is the criterion number four for such recognition.

The A/L batch 2020 Travel and Tourism students of Lyceum International School travelled to Galle Fort to understand why the tourists chose to visit Galle as their travel destination and to know more about the traveller profile.

Questionnaires were used for the research in why they chose Galle Fort as destination in order to gather information about the overall quality, different aspects of the area (destination, hospitality, nature in general etc.), and problems faced when choosing a destination for example.

By using the information gathered, the students have seen the problems which have occurred and they would like to raise awareness about it to the community to make it a better place.
