Jetwing Lagoon has reopened its doors following a comprehensive refurbishment.

Nestled between the Negombo Lagoon and the Indian Ocean, the resort offers a serene escape for travellers seeking relaxation, and a wellness centric getaway.

Originally conceived by the legendary architect Geoffrey Bawa in 1965, ‘The Blue Lagoon’ was not only Bawa’s first foray into hotel design but also Sri Lanka’s pioneering resort, setting a new standard for luxury and elegance. Under the guidance of Bawa’s protégé, Vinod Jayasinghe, the resort has undergone a significant transformation.

The guest rooms have been refreshed while preserving the original design, with added features like in-room living areas and outdoor sitting areas to enhance relaxation. The rooms have been updated with new furniture, upholstery, and colour schemes, creating a more elegant yet comfortable atmosphere. The resort’s spa has been expanded to include four additional treatment rooms, a steam room, and a dry sauna, offering a wider range of treatments. The open-air architecture of the restaurant has been retained, but two new areas now feature air conditioning. The air-conditioned library is a designated quiet zone where guests can relax with a cup of tea or a healthy beverage. Geoffrey’s pavilion is now used for wellness activities like meditation and yoga, and the air-conditioned conference hall hosts talks, educational screenings, and more. The pool bar serves fresh juices, smoothies, detox drinks, and mocktails.

Jetwing Lagoon redefines wellness with a holistic approach that transcends traditional spa treatments, embracing a philosophy that nurtures mindfulness, nutrition, movement, rest, and community. All wellness packages are designed to incorporate these five pillars, ensuring guests have a memorable experience that inspires a lasting wellness lifestyle. From yoga retreats and meditation sessions to luxurious spa treatments and healthy cuisine, the Lagoon Wellness Experience offers a complete rejuvenation. A team of wellness experts is dedicated to guiding guests on their healing journey. Additionally, a wellness concierge service is available to manage all aspects of the experience, from reservations to departure and every aspect in between, ensuring a seamless and rejuvenating stay.

Jetwing Lagoon offers a variety of tailored wellness packages, including introductory wellness programs, detoxification and de-stress retreats, personalised yoga and revitalisation therapies, sleep-focused retreats, and comprehensive weight management plans. In addition to these curated packages, guests can participate in daily wellness activities, including yoga, guided meditation sessions, cooking demonstrations, water aerobics, and local arts and crafts workshops designed to foster a transformative journey that nourishes both mental and physical health.

The expanded spa at Jetwing Lagoon presents a wide range of treatments and therapies inspired by modern medical practices, global wellness traditions, and the rich Ayurvedic heritage of Sri Lanka. A contemporary gym is available for those seeking high-performance workouts, and the hotel also features a 100-meter swimming pool, the longest in Sri Lanka.

Being part of Jetwing Hotels, the resort’s operations are guided by a comprehensive sustainability strategy, focusing on energy conservation, resource management, biodiversity conservation, community empowerment, local sourcing, and uplifting associates. The resort’s solar photovoltaic (PV) system, biomass boilers, and innovative vapour absorption chiller contribute to reducing its environmental footprint. Comprehensive waste management systems, including an effluent treatment plant and a composter, ensure efficient resource utilisation. The resort also prioritises local sourcing, with produce from its organic garden used in the restaurant.

Jetwing Lagoon’s relaunch marks a new chapter in its storied history. The resort’s combination of luxury, wellness, and sustainability provides an unforgettable experience for travellers seeking a peaceful and rejuvenating escape.
