Kuwait Airways announced yesterday that it intends to double its capacity in and out of Colombo from 5 December as part of a strategy for restoration of regular operations into Colombo.

It said the seating capacity has been increased from 290 Economy and 36 business class seats to 580 Economy and 72 business class via two flights per week using Boeing 777 aircraft.

This comes on the back of the Government’s efforts to relax the quarantine requirements imposed on inbound passengers, which has definitely given the aviation industry a much-needed boost and aims to have a positive impact on the number of tourists arriving into the island nation.

Kuwait Airways recently relaunched its flights into Sri Lanka and looks forward to further increasing its frequency in the days ahead, while also planning to launch a spate of promotional fares commencing this week.

Further the airline announced its weekly connection to New York, wherein passengers travelling from Colombo can look forward to an afternoon arrival in JFK. This combined with the airline’s exceptional baggage allowances (64 kg on Business Class and 46 kg on Economy Class) make travel to the US very attractive.

Moreover, the National Carrier of Kuwait affirmed its readiness to restore full operations of commercial flights in line with approval of the health authorities and resumption of air navigation in other countries.

Kuwait Airways has always strived to maintain a high commitment to excellence and has a legacy of a colourful history in Sri Lanka spanning over four decades.

Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives Sudesh Rupasinghe said: “We are truly appreciative of the Government’s efforts in helping the airline and tourism industries recover post pandemic, which has facilitated many Sri Lankans travelling to the Middle East for employment. The concerted effort of the Government, health authorities and the Army has been truly impressive, and Kuwait Airways looks forward to further enhancing its frequencies into Sri Lanka in the months ahead.”

Flying to all prime tourist destinations, all Kuwait Airways flights are serviced by the world’s youngest fleet which includes the airline’s flagship Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A320 neo aircraft operating out of Kuwait which is indeed good news for travellers.

Kuwait Airways is the only airline to offer a consistent First and Business Class flatbed and Wi-Fi on all flights from Colombo, further complimented by the luxurious First-Class cabins on the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft operating out of Kuwait which includes 80 degrees pitched, full flat beds, private suites, and full aisle access and connect to all major hubs in Europe, USA and the Middle East with convenient connections – all while ensuring passengers also enjoy premium lounge facilities and Oasis Club frequent flier benefits as well.
