Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga being briefed on the local cuisine at BIA
In a bid to make a strong impression on Sri Lanka’s diverse food culture, national carrier has taken measures to introduce a local meal to its passengers on board.
SriLankan Airlines said it will provide a nutritious, typical meal of Sri Lanka on board soon.
The meal was introduced recently at the Serendib Hall at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake, under the patronage of Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga.
The Minister pointed out that tourists arriving in Sri Lanka get their first experience of the destination on a SriLankan Airline flight, adding that it was a timely move to offer passengers an experience of a local cuisine.
Tourism Ministry Secretary S. Hettiarachchi, Aviation State Ministry Secretary Janaka Sri Chandragupta, SriLankan Airlines Chairman Ashok Pathirage, Civil Aviation Authority Chairman Upul Dharmadasa, Airport and Aviation Services (Lanka) Ltd., Vice Chairman Rajeev Sooriyarachchi were also present on the occasion.
