Built on nine acres of privately-owned tea fields, the Villa Vajrapani’s breathtaking panoramic views of the Hantana valley is framed by the property’s own secluded gardens. The villa blends modern luxury with the charm of old Ceylon. Each of its six rooms is decorated with tasteful minimalistic decor, kumbuk flooring, designer teak furniture, and nandun doors and door frames, reminiscent the 18th century. With two king sized beds and four queen sized bed, and the possibility of each room fitting an extra bed as well, the villa can accommodate a total of twenty people.

Villa Vajrapani was designed by a Colombo based charted architect Lalith Hewage of CECB. Special attention was paid to the surrounding environment and regional ecology, allowing the guests to indulge in the villa’s pristine natural environment. The top floor has large roof top balcony for an outdoor dining experience. Villa Vajrapani has three swimming pools, one infinity pool with a jacuzzi, one kids pool, and a natural spring water pool constructed from local sustainable materials. The villa’s chef, Jagath Kotte, prepares fine dining that meets international standards from his extensive local and overseas culinary experience.

The villa is owned and operated by brothers, Dr. Susantha Yaddehige and Thilakasena Yaddehige, who have invested Rs. 100 million on the project. Already Villa Vajrapani uses solar panels to power its hot water system, and soon more panels will be added to power its electricity. “Villa Vajrapani strives towards eventual carbon neutrality and sustainable organic farming to provide guests with the freshest vegetables, fruits and spices,” said Dr. Susantha Yaddehige. During their stay, guests have the opportunity of interacting with a local naturalist, who provides guided tours of the area’s diverse flora and fauna, as well as the rare species planted in the villa’s garden.

Villa Vajrapani has been landscaped with great care to look. It has one acre of finely landscaped zen garden planted with Australian zoysia grass, a rose garden, and a spice garden. The Yaddehige brothers are continuing to develop the garden with even more sustainable practices. Investments will be made to engage in local reforestation and local community education on environmentally sound practices. The guests have the exclusive opportunity to explore the Upland tea factory, established in 1912, and local attractions of temples and traditional villages. Guests will also have access to numerous hiking and mountain biking trails, yoga and meditation facilities. For absolute relaxation in a luxurious, pristine and secluded location near Kandy, Villa Vajrapani is an easy choice.
