Onyx Hospitality has signed a management agreement with Ratanakorn Asset, a Thai real estate company, for three new hotels in Pattaya.
The hotels will represent all three of Onyx Hospitality’s core brands – Amari, Shama and OZO – adding 773 rooms and suites to the company’s expanding portfolio.
The planned new-build hotels include a 400-key Amari Jomtien Pattaya, a 250-key Shama Wongamat Pattaya and a 123-key OZO Pratumnak Pattaya.
Amari Jomtien Pattaya will occupy a mixed-use beachfront site in Na Jomtien towards the south of Pattaya city, with direct access to a community retail mall.
Located in a 30-storey tower with contemporary Thai-inspired design, this hotel will offer all the signatures of Amari including the market-inspired Amaya Food Gallery and a Breeze Spa with treatments featuring iconic local botanicals. Other facilities include a specialty restaurant, executive floor and lounge, and beach club.
Onyx Hospitality signs first hotel in Japan
Onyx Hospitality has signed a management agreement with Metropoly Holdings, a Hong Kong-based Asian real estate development, investment and asset management firm, to open an Amari hotel in Japan.
Scheduled to open in 2024, the Amari Niseko will be a central feature of the much-awaited Aruku-zaka Street mixed-use development designed to complement the Hirafu area’s unique character and setting.
Created as a village hub, Aruku-zaka Street will be made up of a series of low-rise buildings framing central plazas and a pedestrian walkway. Aruku-zaka Street will be home to a selection of lifestyle, retail and F&B offerings, complemented by residential apartments and the all-new Amari resort.
Located at a strategic site in central Hirafu, in the Abuta-gun district of Kutchan town just off Route 343, Amari Niseko and Aruku-zaka Street will be a two-hour scenic drive or train journey from New Chitose Airport in Sapporo.
A year-round resort and the ideal base for skiing in the winter, and hiking and biking in the greener months, Amari Niseko will offer 126 rooms in a variety of studio, one-bedroom suite and two-bedroom suite configurations.
Onyx Hospitality Group President and Chief Executive Officer Douglas Martell said, “We are excited to be introducing our flagship brand to yet another new destination with the signing of our very first hotel in Japan. We look forward to a long-term collaboration with Metropoly Holdings as the sole hotel operator of the landmark Aruku-zaka Street development in one of the world’s most popular ski destinations.”
Scheduled to open in 2024, the hotel will also offer extensive events and meetings facilities, including a ballroom for up to 1,000 people cocktail-style supported by a variety of smaller function rooms.
Shama Wongamat Pattaya, located in North Pattaya, will feature 250 residential-style units in studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartment configurations. The property will feature an all-day dining restaurant complemented by a guest lounge, pool, garden and gym. Shama Wongamat Pattaya is scheduled to open in 2025.
OZO Pratumnak Hill will open in 2022 as a 123-room hotel designed to offer a lively ambience in the public areas, and peace and quiet upstairs.
Onyx Hospitality Group President and Chief Executive Officer Douglas Martell said, “Pattaya is the birthplace of the Onyx Hospitality Group growth story, and where our first hotel was launched close to half a century ago. It is with great excitement that we expand our reach in this key Thai destination, with all three of our core brands being represented in this partnership with Ratanakorn Asset. As Thailand’s east coast evolves to become the leading destination for both international and domestic travel with planned road, rail and air infrastructure enhancements and investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor initiatives, we look forward to being one of the prominent hospitality players in this growing region.”
Based in Bangkok, Onyx Hospitality has a growing regional portfolio of close to 50 operating properties across three core brands in eight countries. The Group has a robust development pipeline of over 20 new properties in markets such as China, Malaysia and Laos, and has set a target of having 99 hotels open by 2024.
