Radisson Hotel Colombo achieves Hotel Sustainability Basics certification

Radisson Hotel Colombo has announced its certification in Hotel Sustainability Basics, a globally recognised framework that defines 12 key sustainability actions essential for modern hotel operations. With this latest certification, all three Radisson properties – Radisson Hotel Colombo, Radisson Hotel Kandy, and Radisson Blu Resort Galle – are now fully certified under the globally recognised framework.

The Hotel Sustainability Basics certification, endorsed by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), represents a globally coordinated set of sustainability indicators. These 12 actions form the foundation for sustainable hotel practices, promoting efficiency, environmental protection, and positive community contributions.

With all three properties now certified, it underscores the commitment of the hotels to sustainability by implementing measures to enhance resource efficiency, reduce energy and water consumption, minimise waste and carbon emissions, and adopt environmentally friendly operations. The hotels have introduced initiatives such as green cleaning practices, reducing single-use plastics, and expanding vegetarian dining options to support environmental conservation. Additionally, they continue to uplift local communities through inclusive programs that drive positive social impact.
