With a promise to serve its guests a rich culinary adventure, Shangri-La Colombo’s Shang Palace recently launched its new menu by Chef Qui ‘Jasen’ ZhiQiang which also highlights his unique approach to Chinese cuisine.

Chef Jasen, with over three decades of culinary experience rooted in his native FuJian, has internationally showcased his expertise in the Chinese culinary arts. His new menu at Shang Palace promises diners a rich and diverse experience of Asian cuisine where he blends tradition and innovation to create distinct experiences for his diners.

The menu features a curated selection of Shang Palace favourites and Chef Jasen’s unique creations including dishes like the 48-hours Slow-Cooked Lamb Chops, Stir-fried Abalone, Chinese Baked Crab, Hakkas Fried Noodles, Roasted Peking Duck, Szechuan (Suan Cai Yu), Crispy Prawn Chong Feng and Red Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Ganache.

While the dishes maintain their traditional authenticity, Chef Jasen has enhanced them with his creative additions. For example, the Chong Feng which is a thin roll made of several sheets of rice noodle and then filled with various fillings is traditionally made to embody a soft texture. But Chef Jasen layers fried tempura between the soft rice noodle sheets, creating a delicious blend of textures and a rare experience for Chinese food lovers.
