Singapore stops stamping passports on departure

Frequent travellers will be pleased to learn that Singapore’s Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has stopped stamping the passports of travellers departing the country from 22 April onwards, saving valuable space in their passport.

Unfortunately though, and unlike some other countries in the region, travellers will still have their passports stamped when entering Singapore.

Previously, all foreigners departing Singapore would have their passports stamped with the date of departure by an immigration officer at the manned counters.

Since September 2016, travellers whose fingerprints were enrolled via the BioScreen system upon arrival into Singapore have been eligible to use the automated lanes when they leave Singapore. Such travellers do not receive a departure stamp when they use the automated lanes.

From 22 April 2019, all foreign travellers departing Singapore through manned counters no longer have their departures stamped in their passports when they leave Singapore.
