Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) has been organising regional MICE training programs for the benefit of regional hoteliers and MICE professionals. Out of a series scheduled for this year the southern region program was held at Cinnamon Bey – Beruwela with the objective of raising awareness of the significance of Sri Lanka’s MICE sector as a source of economic expansion.
The program centred on ‘New Dimensions of MICE – Driving Sri Lanka with Sustainable Innovation’ and was tailor-made to suit the region.
SLCB General Manager Krishantha Fernando said that ongoing training is its bid to establish a strong collaboration between entrepreneurs and MICE strategic partners from all sectors, who prioritise the concept and practice of sustainability and innovation thus strengthening two major pillars of the industry, efficiency and competitiveness.
A panel discussion on current status of MICE and new trends was conducted with the participation of Fernando, Indika De Silva, Sisira Senaratne, Paul Sun and moderated by Imran Hassan.
A presentation on Reshaping of MICE – Technology and HR was carried out by Paddy Paul followed by Trevin Gomez on MICE from Hoteliers Perspective and Gihan de Silva on Experiential Marketing accompanying Paul. SLCB said it will continue to conduct these training programs covering the Cultural Triangle and the northern region in order for all hoteliers to be fully geared up to serve MICE travellers in the upcoming seasons.
