Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) being the main government body of promoting MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference & Exhibitions) tourism in Sri Lanka has launched a series of familiarisation tours for overseas destinations management delegates and journalists. One such familiarisation event was held from 7 to 12 September for Singapore delegates.
The delegates visited MICE facilities in Sri Lanka such as Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), hotels with conference venues and Nelum Pokuna Theatre. The tour also included a visit to private sector MICE facilities in Colombo, Negombo and hotels down south.
SLCB General Manager Krishantha Fernanado, along with SLCB staff Janith Bathiya and Dinushka Fonseka welcomed the visiting delegation at Cinnamon Lakeside hotel before heading to the B2B session, which was organised between the participating Singaporean delegates, SLCB, and members of Sri Lanka Association of Professional Conference, Exhibition & Event Organisers (SLAPCEO) before their departure.
A participating MICE delegate Pamela Chow from TTG MICE magazine said she ‘enjoyed the beauty and seeing the facilities and learning how wonderfully friendly and hospitable’ the Sri Lankan people are, the combination which provides an ideal opportunity to actively promote Sri Lanka as a
MICE destination.
