The deadline for applications for Sri Lanka Tourism Awards has been extended till 5 October, the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) said. The organising committee added the deadline had been extended due to multiple requests by industry stakeholders.
The event, which will take place this year following a six-year hiatus, will celebrate the achievements of Sri Lanka’s tourism industry stakeholders, while recognising their contributions to uplift the industry standards.
The awards are presented under 11 categories – including General Awards, Tourist Accommodation, Tourist Restaurants, Travel and Tourism Operators, Airlines – Contribution to Tourism, MICE Tourism, Marketing Communication, Provincial Tourism Project, Tourism Education and Training, Tourism Attractions and Events, and Excellence in Service.
SLTDA said 72 best performers under these categories would be felicitated at the awards ceremony, held under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, on 6 December.
