Sri Lanka Tourism took part at the International Media Market place (IMM) Asia held in Macao, China, from 21st to 22nd October 2019, by partnering with Macao Tourism and many regional tourism bodies.

In order to make right travel media connections with the elite travel magazines, (both print & digital) in the Asian region to gain their support to promote destination Sri Lanka within the 2019/20 period, Sri Lanka Tourism participated at this two days’ event together with several other international destinations including New Zealand Tourism, Australian Tourism, Tourism Tasmania, Singapore Tourism, Macao Tourism, Brand USA and visit Wales. Leading Travel & Hospitality brands including Stregis, Four Seasons, Venetian, Holiday Inn, Sheraton, Accor etc. 

The interest which was shown by the international media and Industry stakeholders was highlighted by Sri Lanka Tourism taking over 25 One on One meetings with some of the Asian region’s most lucrative media publications including National Geographic China, South China post, Destin Asia, GQ, CondeNast Traveler, Billionaire, CNN Travel, Nat Geo India etc. Sri Lanka was able to invite them to create unique travel content about Sri Lanka, which is an island destination which has a wide variety of travel opportunities to offer for the enthusiastic traveler.  While having rich diversity in nature, history, food culture, wildlife, amazing landscapes together with luxurious accommodation sector ‘’Sri Lanka’ is recognized as a highly resourceful destination for international travel media to introduce to their holiday travel seeking readers from around the world.

Taking this opportunity of participating at IMM Asia 2019, Sri Lanka Tourism expects to organize a series of tailored press trips for international travel media publications under SLTPB Visiting Journalist Program to increase awareness about rich product diversity in destination Sri Lanka.
