For the first time, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in France jointly organised Sri Lanka’s participation at the 43rd Edition of the ‘Salon Mondial du Tourism’ Exhibition, which was held from 15 to 18 March in Paris. 10 Sri Lankan travel agencies participated in the Exhibition.
This Exhibition gives travel industry professionals a unique visibility with more than 300 destinations presented in an exhibition space of 17,000 m². This year’s edition attracted around 100,000 visitors and 570 exhibitors.
The Salon Mondial du Tourism was inaugurated by Geneviève Darrieussecq, Mayor of Mont-de-Marsan and Secretary of State to the Minister of the Armed Forces. She visited the Sri Lanka booth and had the opportunity to witness a performance of Sri Lankan traditional dances and to obtain information about Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lanka pavilion was ceremonially opened by Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to France B.K. Athauda Audrey Quentin of Comexposium, Assistant Director of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Sarangi Thilakasena along with other diplomatic officials of the Embassy.
Sri Lankan traditional dancing performances, traditional food and the Ceylon Tea counter attracted a large number of visitors to the Sri Lanka Pavilion.
Participating Sri Lankan travel and tour companies such as Airwing Tours, Blackpool Holdings, Chamathka Holidays, World Lanka Tours, Yatrah Travels, Zenith Expeditions, Ayubowan Tours, Bernard Tours, Asian Escape, and Travel Talk Asia had the opportunity to meet the French public who are interested in travelling to Sri Lanka.
