Sri Lanka takes centre stage at Vakantiebeurs Tourism Fair 2025

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Netherlands, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), made arrangements for Sri Lanka’s participation in the Vakantiebeurs Tourism Fair 2025, the annual travel fair of the Netherlands held from 8 to 15 January in Utrecht, The Netherlands.  

The objective of Sri Lanka’s participation in the event was to further promote the country as a desirable and memorable destination among Dutch travellers and thereby increase the arrival of Dutch visitors to Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lanka Pavilion at the event was inaugurated by Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of the Netherlands Rekha Gunasekera together with Dutch Association of Tour Operators and Travel Agents (ANVR), the Netherlands Head Frank Radstake, and other dignitaries. The Sri Lanka pavilion effectively portrayed the country’s tourism attractions that range from the pristine beaches to the ancient heritage sites and more. The country’s unique blend of history, nature, and spirituality earned high praise and a positive feedback from visitors who also indulged in Ceylon tea served at the tea counter.

The Sri Lanka Pavilion, featuring 20 destination management companies: Wanderlust Asia Ltd., Airwing Tours Ltd., Best of Lanka, Beyond Boundaries & Your Holiday Specialist, Arabiers Ltd., Aitken Spence Travels Ltd., Lanka Sports Reizen, Ocean Gate Travels and Tours Ltd., Hotel Lanka Super Coral, BH Lanka Tours, Camlo Lanka Tours Ltd., Ceylon Gate Travels Ltd., Ceyline travels Ltd., Esna Holidays Ltd., Ceylon Tours Ltd., Jetwing Travels Ltd., Andrew the Travel Company, the Fabulous Gateway, Sunway Holidays and Mai Globe travels created great awareness about Sri Lanka as an attractive and family-friendly, must-visit tourist destination. The event was attended by Dutch tour operators, Dutch media personnel, travel bloggers and the general public.

Sri Lanka has been a regular participant at this fair for many years, along with industry stakeholders, to showcase the island as an ideal holiday destination. With its commitment to sustainability and its diverse range of attractions, Sri Lanka continues to attract increasing numbers of travellers from the Netherlands who are eager to explore its enchanting landscapes and vibrant heritage.
