SriLankan elated to be among best for business travel for readers of Conde Nast Traveller

SriLankan Airlines this week expressed delight for being recognised as one of the world’s leading airlines in the recent Conde Nast Traveller ‘Readers’ Travel awards’.

Condé Nast Traveller is a luxury and lifestyle travel magazine published by Condé Nast – a global mass media company founded in 1909 by Condé Montrose Nast, and owned by Advance Publications. Its headquarters are located at One World Trade Centre in New York. The magazine has won 25 National Magazine Awards.

The airline has been awarded the sixth place in the survey among Best International Airlines with readers commending the airline’s comfy business class seats, attentive cabin crew and flavourful in-flight meals.

The factors considered in selecting winners under this category have been the health and safety measures taken up by the airlines to adopt to the new normal of travel and the marketing initiatives carried out by the airlines to gain top of mind awareness during the present scenario, etc. The Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards survey was carried out through a secure website and this year’s tabulation of results were from hundreds of thousands of respondents who submitted ratings during the period of 1 April through 30 June 2020.

Focusing on our passengers’ utmost comfort, whilst providing an excellent service are amongst our priorities – and this award is yet another testament to achieving that,” SriLankan Airlines Chairman Ashok Pathirage said. 

CEO Vipula Gunatillake added: “With a fleet of 26 aircraft combined with our extensive business and leisure destinations, SriLankan Airlines continues to set the industry standard in the airline travel.”

The magazine commented: “It’s a top choice for travellers headed not only to the island nation it calls home, but to destinations in the region like the Maldives, where it’s the largest foreign airline with a fleet of 26 planes, it’s not huge, but more passengers are discovering it, thanks to its membership in the oneworld alliance”.

Launched in 1979, SriLankan Airlines, the National Carrier is an award-winning airline with a solid reputation for service, comfort, safety, reliability, and punctuality. The airline’s hub is at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, providing convenient connections to its global route network with a fleet of 26 aircraft including wide bodied A330 aircraft, A321 aircraft and mid-range A320s.

SriLankan Airlines is a member of the oneworld alliance. Oneworld is an airline alliance founded on 1 February 1999. The alliance’s stated objective is to be the first-choice airline alliance for the world’s frequent international travellers. 

The airline’s direct route map covers major cities across the Europe, Australia, Middle East, India, South East Asia and the Far East. 

The latest accolades won by the Airline include PATA Gold Award 2020, World’s Leading Airline to the Indian Ocean title for the fourth consecutive time and Asia’s Leading Airline to the Indian Ocean title for the third consecutive time at World Travel Awards 2019, PATA Gold Awards 2019- Marketing Carrier, and Best Marketing Innovation at APEX Awards 2019.
