Tourism Minister recognised for ‘Outstanding Contribution’

As part of the fifth International Tourism Leaders Summit & Tourism Research Conference held recently to coincide with World Tourism Day, Minister of Tourism Development, Wildlife and Christian Religious Affairs, John Amaratunga was honoured with a Lifetime Award for National Contribution and Professional Excellence. 

The prestigious award was presented to Minister Amaratunga by the Alumni Association of Tourism Economics and Hospitality Management of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Arts of the University of Colombo for the Most Outstanding Contribution to Sri Lanka Tourism. 

The award presentation took place at the BMICH in Colombo amidst a distinguished gathering of university academics, tourism industry stakeholders, policy makers, corporate leaders and international panelists among others. 

This year’s Tourism Leaders Summit was held on the theme “Knowledge, innovation, policy and synergy.”
