Abercrombie & Kent to start Sri Lanka operations by September

Abercrombie and Kent, one of the world’s leading high end travel firms, will start operating to the Sri Lankan market effective from September.
This was revealed by the firm’s CEO Ian Coghlan, when he met the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa in Colombo last week.
Coghlan told the Minister that Abercrombie and Kent would focus on sending high end tourists to Sri Lanka from various destinations in the world. The firm’s local partner is United Holidays Ltd.
The firm, which has a global network of 63 offices in 30 countries, is also planning to train selected Sri Lankan hotel staffs to meet luxury standards in the future.
Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Bhashwara Gunarathna and Chairman of United Holidays Ltd. Afghar Mohideen was present at the meeting.
Founded in 1962, Abercrombie & Kent is the world’s foremost luxury travel company, delivering inspiring experiences in the world’s greatest destinations through a global network of 50 offices. In year 2012 Abercrombie & Kent group of companies recorded 58% of sales from north America, 16% from UK and 8% from Australia and Asia.
In the meantime, the latest entry by Abercrombie is a boost to Sri Lanka Tourism’s ongoing work towards attracting high end tourists to the country with the able guidance of Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa.
Sri Lanka Tourism is constantly engaged in holding promotional campaigns such as business meetings, CEO forums, exhibitions, seeking coverage from international travel magazines and inviting foreign journalist and tour operators to the country on familiarization tours to attract high end tourists to the nation.
