AirAsia is to launch three new international routes from its Johor Bahru hub connecting the southern region of Peninsular Malaysia to Yogyakarta (4x weekly) and Lombok (3x weekly) in Indonesia; and Ho Chi Minh (4x weekly) in Vietnam. The three new international routes mean those departing, or travelling to Johor Bahru, no longer need to connect via Kuala Lumpur. To kick-start the new international routes from Johor Bahru to Yogyakarta, Lombok and Ho Chi Minh, AirAsia is offering special fares for bookings until 20 April 2014, for travel from 11 July 2014 to 30 April 2015. AirAsia Berhad Head of Commercial, Spencer Lee said, “Johor Bahru is one of our important hubs, and we recognise its great potential in terms of route development and high demand for more international connectivity. The three new routes from Johor Bahru to Yogyakarta, Lombok and Ho Chi Minh City signify our commitment in establishing enhanced connectivity for the people in the southern state of Peninsular Malaysia. With the great support of Senai International Airport, we look forward to initiate more routes in the future and provide greater access to our wide network for the benefit of the people of Johor Bahru and the community of Southern Peninsular Malaysia.” Besides Yogyakarta and Lombok, AirAsia has established great connectivity between Johor Bahru and Indonesia with 15x weekly flights, to Jakarta (4x weekly), Bandung (4x weekly) and Surabaya (7x weekly). AirAsia also connects Johor Bahru to various domestic destinations in Peninsular and East Malaysia with 91x weekly flights, such as to Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kuching, Miri, Sibu, and Kota Kinabalu.
