Amethyst Resort in Passikudah, one of the first hotels to commence operations in the region, has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence 2013 by TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site. The accolade, which honours hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide. Approximately 10% of accommodations listed on TripAdvisor receive this prestigious award. To qualify for the Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travellers on TripAdvisor. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received as well. “The Certificate of Excellence Award gives highly rated establishments around the world the recognition they deserve. From exceptional accommodations in Beijing to remarkable restaurants in Boston, we want to applaud these businesses for offering TripAdvisor travellers a great customer experience,” said Christine Petersen, President, TripAdvisor for Business. The Amethyst’s story began in 2011 with its first foundation in Passikudah, Sri Lanka. By March 2012, the resort commenced its operations as one of the first and most unique locations for holidaymakers in Passikudah. The resort has 40 rooms in operation, fully equipped with all amenities to offer the ultimate hi-tech getaway. Passikudah is Sri Lanka’s newest holiday destination. After decades of being inaccessible, this charming coastal resort town on the eastern coast of Sri Lanka is being rediscovered for its untouched golden sands and calm blue waters abundant in biodiversity. Passikudah is known to have one of the longest stretches of shallow coastline in the world. People walk kilometres into the sea because the water is only a few inches deep and the current is relatively weak compared to the rest of Sri Lanka’s coasts. The reef system is considered one of the best in the east while many of the best deep sea diving sites in Sri Lanka are in close proximity, giving it a unique appeal. The board and management of Amethyst Resort are extremely honoured to be bestowed with a prestigious award of this nature so soon after commencing operations. The focus is to adhere to a set of core values that characterises the resort’s culture. Amethyst Resort’s main aim is to become the preferred brand in leisure and recreation, renowned for innovation, service and a special culture to help shape the journeys of travellers each and every day.
