Anandaraj achieves Fellow member status with Institute of Hospitality, UK

Senior hotelier Anandaraj has been elected as the Fellow Member of the Institute of Hospitality, United Kingdom.

The institute is ‘the’ professional body for individual managers and aspiring managers working and studying in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry.BUP_DFT_DFT-10-5

The Institute’s Sri Lanka Chapter has established plans in the current year to be the wagon between the industry and professional education.

Ana counts over 30 years in the tourism industry.

He joined as a Management Trainee of the famous Confifi Group and rose up steadily to the position of General Manager of their 192 roomed Riverina Hotel - the largest 4-star resort in the island at that time. 

He had a short stint at the Galle Face Hotel as its General Manager before he took up as Director – Operations of Serendib Leisure Group Hotels which comes under the Hemas umbrella and currently manages four well known properties in Sri Lanka. 

He was subsequently promoted as the Director/Chief Operating Officer of the group which post he relinquished upon taking up the appointment in Dubai as Group Director-Operations with GHM Group. 

Ana’s involvement in the expansion of the Leisure sector of GHM in the African Region, gave him an opportunity to become a Director of the company GHM Holdings Africa too.

Back in the country Ana was called upon to give leadership to Auro Resorts [Tangalle] Ltd. as its Chief Executive Officer.

He is also a Certified Hospitality Educator by the American Hotel and Lodging Association and is passionate about training and development of human capital in the hospitality industry.

In addition to being a Fellow of the Ceylon Hotel School Graduates Association, he is a Life Member of the Organization of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka. 

Ana is also an Alumnus of the Hotel School Hague in Netherlands, the NUS in Singapore, the ISB and IIM of India, apart from Ceylon Hotel School.

Being a Past President of the CHSGA and serving as a member in the Executive Committee Ana is holding the Vice Chairmanship for the second successive year of the Institute of Hospitality of the Sri Lanka Chapter too.

Widely travelled, he is professionally trained in club concept operations and is a hotel animation specialist too.

Presently he is the Chief Executive Officer/Owners Representative of Auro Holdings Ltd., the owning company of Portofino Resort Tangalle.
