Asanka became the winner of the first Arugam Bay Surf Classic, which just got over showing great promise as the contest that is open only to the Sri Lankan surfers. In its first edition, the contest had participation from surfers from the South and the West coast. The surf contest was supported by Arugam Bay Beachwear along with the Arugam Bay Surf Club.
Asanka was the winner, followed by Prenith Cyrill at second place and Kavindran at third place. The contest also ranked top 10 surfers. “It was a great start and we are very confident to go to the next level with the next contest which is next year. We have learned a lot with this outing.” Says Ajaiy Virr Singh, CEO of Arugam Bay Beachwear.
The contest was over 2 days, where surfers from other surfing towns participated. “We are delighted to have a contest which supports and encourages surfers from Sri Lanka. With Arugam Bay Beachwear we want to do it better next year,” said Fawas Lafeer President of Arugam Bay Surf Club.
