Basil opens Amethyst Resort in Passikudah

Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa on Sunday declared open the newly built Amethyst Resort in Passikudah.

Amethyst Resort Passikudah is an investment of Arrc Capital, whose directors include, Rohini Nanayakkara and Rajan Asirwatham. The total investment on the project will reach Rs. 750 million at the end of its completion.



Minister of Coconut Development and Janatha Estate Development Jagath Pushpakumara,  Deputy Minister of Child Development, Women Affairs A.H.M. Hisbulla, Amethyst Resort Chairperson Rohini Nanayakkara and Amethyst Resort Director Rajan Asirwatham, also participated at this occasion.

Situated about 28km North of Batticaloa town, in the Batticaloa District, of the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka, Passikudah is an approximate five hour journey from Colombo. The bay of Passikudah is a crescent-moon shaped inlet of shallow water. The bay is flat and sandy; and provides a very soothing effect on the feet. Its panoramic views and clear, cool waters, ideal for swimming has made it a much adored destination by holiday makers. The amazing tranquillity of the beach lends itself beautifully for moments of blissful solitude, with gentle waters lapping at your feet. For more adventurous vacationers, the four km-long wide and sunny beach provides a great location for bathing, windsurfing and water skiing.

The key aim was to ensure conservation of greenery in the area and moreover to introduce more foliage as well. The mangroves have been protected and the natural stream has been sanitised. The resort has 40 rooms in ready for operation, which is part of its first phase of operational which comprise of 18 Sea view cabanas and Stream View Cabanas. All rooms are fully equipped with luxury amenities including, AC, iPhone Dock, 32” LCD Flat screen TV, cable TV, mini-bar, electronic safe, coffee/tea making facilities, hot water, hand dryer and  shaver socket. Infrastructure facilities are also in place for the second phase of operations to be completed soon.
