Beijing TV to capture splendour of Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), under the visiting journalists program, has fully sponsored the Chinese television channel Beijing TV to execute a series of documentary on Sri Lanka tourism industry.



Basil Rajapakse, Minister of Economic Development, has taken steps to meet the TV crew for a prospective discussion on the development of the industry of tourism in Sri Lanka. During this exclusive interview, the importance of China for the development of blooming industry of tourism in Sri Lanka was widely discussed. Bhashwara Gunarathna, Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism, also participated in the discussion.

At present, the filming of this documentary is being done in Sri Lanka, under the direction of Lan Tian (Director – Travel Program) and with the support of Wang Xiadong (presenter) and Wang Yang as the cameraman. Beijing TV and its viewership of 600 million people is definitely positive news to the blooming tourism industry in Sri Lanka.

 During the tour in Sri Lanka, the Chinese crew will carry out filming in Pinnawala, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Southern beaches, heritage sites and of Ayurvedic practices, with the purpose of producing a highly popular program, ‘Travel  around the world’, which is to be telecast on Beijing TV during the end of December, mid-January and early February respectively. Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau invites over 200 foreign journalists to the island annually, with the view of promoting Sri Lanka as a renowned destination among the travellers around the globe. As per this plan, arrangements are made to invite 11 more journalists from leading travel magazines and websites in China in the month of December this year.
